How do I prepare for a peel?
First, check that you
Do NOT have a history of allergic reactions to Glycolic Acid or Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract
Do NOT have any active bacterial, viral, fungal, or herpetic infections Do NOT have any active sunburns, windburns, or open skin lesions
Do NOT have pre-existing inflammatory dermatoses (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, etc)
Have NOT used Accutane/Isotretinoin in the last year
Do NOT have a history of drugs with photosensitizing potential
Are NOT undergoing oncological treatment Are NOT pregnant or breastfeeding
Do NOT have a compromised immune system
Do NOT have any other medical conditions as determined by your treating physician IF you have undergone any cosmetic or medical procedures on the same area you plan to have peeled, ensure that ALL effects have healed and all skin sensitivity resolves BEFORE getting your treatment
One WEEK before, avoid:
Retinols and/or retinoids (like Differin, Renova, Retin-A, Tazorac, etc)
Use of exfoliation, drying, or peeling products on the area to be treated
Manual exfoliation on the area to be peeled (e.g., facial brush, facial scrub, etc)
Waxing, depilatories, electrolysis, or laser hair removal on the area to be peeled
The DAY OF, avoid: Prolonged sun exposure
Shaving the area you plan to have peeled
When will I see results?
Within 10 days, you will see a dramatic improvement of your skin, which will continue progressively over the next 3 – 6 months.
How often should I get a peel?
For best results, we recommend getting a CoolPeel every 4 – 6 weeks, for up to 4 sessions, depending on the results you are wanting.
What are the potential side effects of a peel?
You may experience: Tightness or redness (Can last 3 – 72 hours post treatment) Skin sensitivity (up to 72 hours) Exfoliation (peeling and/or flaking) for up to 5 days Not everyone will experience all of these side effects, and these side effects are not indicators of the treatment’s effectiveness. If you experience any significant side effects, or if these listed side effects last longer than 5 days, please contact your physician.
