What are fillers?
Most of the fillers at our practice (except for Sculptra) are hyaluronic gels that are injected into the skin to “fill in” facial features such as wrinkles, and add volume to the face (like in sunken cheeks or thinning lips), or augment features.
All of our fillers are made of a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring component in the body. In order to build a natural youthful volume in the skin, hyaluronic acid attracts and interacts with water molecules. Our supply of hyaluronic acid depletes over time. However, dermal fillers can replenish its quantities in our skin tissues.
Who are good candidates?
Dermal fillers may be used on the majority of people. Patients who want to address wrinkles and hollow cheeks as a result of volume loss and want a non-surgical rejuvenation option are good candidates.
You may not be an ideal candidate for dermal filler treatments if you have an active skin infection on or near the target locations. If you have any allergies, please be sure to bring them up during your initial consultation with one of our skincare experts.
What should I expect in this treatment?
To begin, our experienced injector will meticulously mark the treatment locations that require fillers. This serves as a reference point. The injector then precisely injects the filler substance into the desired regions.
The treatment generally takes one and a half hours, does not usually require any anesthesia, and is performed using sterile techniques to give you results you can see immediately.
What should I do post-treatment?
Most fillers allow you to resume most social activities immediately. Following your filler treatment session, there is no downtime or recovery time required. You’ll need to stay out of the sun as much as possible and use sunscreen. For a period of time, you must abstain from drinking and avoid vigorous activities.
What's the difference between Botox and filler?
Botox will “freeze” muscles temporarily to reduce the effects of aging and muscle contractions on the face, leading to smoother skin. Filler plumps up areas and boosts collagen production. Both can lead to younger-looking skin!
