About Alex Batkin

Alex Batkin is a licensed Acupuncturist in the state of New York, board-certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Alex has a particular interest in working with people who have digestive concerns, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, and in using acupuncture to address the bodymind manifestations of stress. He has experience working with athletes, and in treating acute and chronic injuries and orthopedic conditions.

He studied three styles of acupuncture: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Kiiko Matsumoto style, and Acupuncture Physical Medicine, based on the myofascial research of Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. Mark Seem. Alex continues to study under Kiiko Matsumoto and with other master practitioners such as Sharon Zhao.

These styles, both independently and in concert, give Alex the tools to address a wide variety of complex internal conditions, musculo-skeletal injuries, and pain.

Before studying acupuncture, Alex received a Masters of Fine Arts in poetry, and wrote his dissertation about the process of fermentation, parts of which have been published in various journals, and as a chapbook. He has taught writing to undergraduate students since 2012.

He has a black belt in Tang Soo Do Mu Duk Kwan and continues to practice kung fu and yoga.

I perform the ThermiVa vaginal rejuvenation and ThermiSmooth facial rejuvenation procedures in Manhattan, NY.

After working primarily in obstetrics and delivering over 4,000 babies, I realized that what women were asking for was personalized, hands-on care for their intimate needs different from what goes on in the normal GYN visit. It was then that I decided to focus in the areas of Vaginal Rejuvenation and Facial Rejuvenation and the management of Menopause and Sexual Health Concerns, and started

Your Partner in Health

I believe in empowering women with knowledge, alternatives, and choice. I value bedside manner and aspire to work with my clients as a partner in health. My goal is to give my patients the very best procedures – ThermiVa and ThermiSmooth.

Consider me your guide to translate ThermiVa and ThermiSmooth in a simple, easy-to-understand manner and help you formulate a real plan of action—so you feel like your best self. If vaginal rejuvenation or facial rejuvenation are why you are coming to me, know that I am one of the leading experts (and a Gynecologist, MD) in performing these procedures. It is an honor for me to provide the personalized service and medical expertise in this type of practice.

When I’m Not Working

I have three elementary-aged children – two boys and a girl – and a very supportive husband.  When I am not working, I am striving for that perfect balance each day – running between school activities and getting in a good workout!  A few of my many passions are traveling, yoga, hiking, and my family.  My favorite place in the world so far has been Tanzania, Africa – climbing the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and a safari in the Serengeti (2007) were definite highlights!
