Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is the use of oxygen in a pressurized environment. Increased pressure allows for oxygen to dissolve and saturate the blood plasma (independent of hemoglobin/red blood cells), which yields a broad variety of positive physiological, biochemical and cellular effects. This noninvasive therapy is the most trusted way to increase oxygen levels to all organs of the body. HBOT has been demonstrated in several clinical studies to enhance the body’s innate ability to repair and regenerate. It is used as an adjunct therapy to complement and enhance the healing process in both chronic and acute conditions.
While an individual is under pressure, the oxygen molecules decrease in size and are able to dissolve into the blood plasma. This exponentially increases oxygen delivery throughout the body and makes it possible for oxygen to reach inflamed tissue and support optimal cellular and organ functionality.
What to expect
Within one minute the chamber will inflate completely, allowing enough room for an adult to relax comfortably in the tube. After the chamber inflates, it will begin to pressurize. This is the time when you may experience pressure in your ears similar to the feeling of pressure on a plane. Sessions last 60-minutes and clients are able to release themselves from the chamber at anytime with a zipper.
What can I do during my hyperbaric session?
Because our tank uses pressure to oxygenate the body, clients can do the following within the Chamber:
- Talk on your cell phone.
- Play handheld games.
- Watch movies on portable DVD player.
- Work on laptop computer.
- Read books or magazines.
It’s like when you purchase a bottle of soda, the CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas bubbles are under pressure, which decreases the size of the bubbles enough that they dissolve into the liquid. Therefore, you are unable to see them. When pressure is released, the volume of each bubble increases and the bubbles appear. While an individual is under pressure, the oxygen molecules decrease in size and are able to dissolve into the blood plasma. This exponentially increases oxygen delivery throughout the body and makes it possible for oxygen to reach inflamed tissue and support optimal cellular and organ functionality.
HOW DOES IT WORK
OXYGEN IS OUR GREATEST ENERGY SOURCE
Oxygen increases stamina and endurance, a vital ingredient to health, vitality, physical stamina and endurance is maintaining proper oxygen levels in the body. Oxygen is our primary source of energy and our Life Force. 90% of our energy comes from oxygen.
BODY REBUILDS ITSELF
Oxygen detoxifies the blood, strengthens the immune system, displaces free radicals, neutralizes environmental toxins, and destroys anaerobic infectious bacteria, parasites, microbes and viruses, greatly enhances the body’s absorption of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, and other important nutrients.
IMPROVES BRAIN AND MEMORY FUNCTIONS
Oxygen allows the brain to process billions of pieces of information every second, it calms the mind and stabilizes the nervous system, heightens concentration and alertness. As we age, and oxygen deficiency increases, it takes longer to learn, and retention span is decreased.
With more oxygen present in the blood system, blood vessels can restrict their flow (vasoconstriction) to damaged tissue and reduce the fluid build up (swelling or edema) without compromising the higher oxygen levels needed for repair.
REDUCES TISSUE HYPOXIA
Hypoxic tissue (low oxygen levels) can lead to cell death and is a common theme in most major health challenges including stroke, heart attack, cancer, diabetes and many more. By increasing oxygen levels, the body has increased cellular aid to prevent and treat pathophysiological events.
NEW BLOOD VESSELS AND CAPILLARIES
Vascularization or angiogenesis is new collateral blood flow created by the body. This is of particular importance to damaged areas of the body, where circulation is compromised; which can lead to non-healing wounds, heart attack, stroke and more.
